This was the message I put out to some of my contacts a few days before I travelled to Zululand a few weeks ago.

Although they are Catholic, the nuns believe "Thou shall not kill" and as AIDS was killing the local community, they knew they must do all they could to stop it.

Anyway, 3 hours before I had to leave for my first plane, an 8 kilo box of condoms arrived on my doorstep - courtesy of MTV - and thanks to an amazing Ecademy and XL Life Member, Alex Pidgley, who had sourced the donation.

After an amazing three day journey into Zululand was able to give the condoms to the nuns, who in turn delivered them to out reach clinics in rural areas of Zululand.

Although it's the strangest request I have ever made through Ecademy - and the strangest luggage I have ever carried across Africa, I know it will save lives.

And for me it shows the true power of networking.
You never quite know how your contacts can be of help until you ask!

The Catholic church prohibits its followers from using condoms, but with 1.7 million AIDS orphans in South Africa alone, the nuns have to face harsh realities.

It's human neglect on an unprecedented scale, but in just two years time, by 2010, its estimated twenty percent of all children in South Africa will be orphaned by AIDS!

Should the church be promoting or prohibiting the use of condoms in these circumstances?

I know I'm Bananas, but this seems crazy!
